What is Staging?
Your Hoff Planter does not have a drainage hole and as such you should not plant anything directly inside of it. Instead, you will employ a method called staging, which we believe is a simpler, cleaner, and healthier way of potting indoor greenery no matter what features your vessel employs.
In a nutshell, staging refers to making it look like a plant is potted in a planter, when really it is potted in its nursery pot and placed inside the decorative planter.
Benefits of Staging
There are many benefits of staging plants, including improved airflow, ease of watering, and ease of swapping out planters or plants when you're in the mood for a refresh.
How to Stage Your Hoff Planter
The Hoff planter is designed for plants in nursery pots 6-8" in diameter. Depending on the nursery pot's height (this part can vary quite a bit), you may need to raise your plant up a bit. Note that the Hoff Planter comes with an exclusive Léon & George felt sleeve to facilitate staging.
If you'd like, place decorative moss over the soil of your plant to hide the edges of the nursery pot.
