Designed in Copenhagen and handcrafted in Italy, the Hoff Vessel showcases elegance and craftsmanship that elevates any style. Learn more about why we selected this gorgeous piece for our collection, and how to properly use it with any living plant for optimal health and beauty.
Designed by Danish graphic designer Anne Hoff in Copenhagen and handcrafted in Tuscany with fine Italian clay by Berg's Potter, the Hoff Vessel is a gorgeously glazed planter that adds character to any space. Giving a unique twist to the humble art of terracotta, this vessel is fully glazed inside and out resulting in a brilliant and enviable shine uncommon in terracotta planters.
Versatile is an understatement when it comes to the Hoff Vessel. Available in two distinct shapes, the pieces can be mixed and matched if desired, all while complementing any style or setting.
Soft pastels and rich, saturated tones come together to create a collection that is both subtle and striking. From the airy elegance of Mist to the sunlit warmth of Buttercup, each shade carries a distinct personality that enhances natural textures and materials.
The Hoff Vessel has two distinct shapes that go beyond simple aesthetics. The two options also have technicalities at play: one shape features a drainage hole and saucer, and the other does not. No matter which style you select, when you're ready to pot your plant, we recommend using the "staging" method for optimal health and ease of care.
"Staging" is a refined approach where the plant remains in its original nursery pot or felt potting sleeve, allowing for effortless swaps and optimal care while sitting perfectly nestled inside a decorative vessel. This method not only simplifies maintenance but also preserves the integrity of both the plant and the planter.
The alternative to staging is direct potting. This method is reserved for vessels with proper drainage, ensuring the plant’s health without the risk of overwatering.
The Hoff Vessel is designed with both staging and direct potting in mind. Plants going into the Hoff Vessel with a drainage hole and saucer (Mist, Buttercup and Burgundy) may be staged or directly potted within the vessel. However, if you select your Hoff with no saucer and drainage hole (Emeral and Rust) you must stage your plant inside to ensure proper drainage.
This planter is designed for plants in nursery pots 6-8" in diameter. Depending on the nursery pot's height (this part can vary quite a bit), you may need to raise your plant up a bit. Note that the Hoff Vessel comes with an exclusive Léon & George felt sleeve to facilitate staging.
If you'd like, place decorative moss over the soil of your plant to hide the edges of the nursery pot.
